1. System requirements
Make sure your computer meets the following requirements:
- Operating system
- Windows 2000 SP4 / XP SP2 / Vista SP1 / 7
- Microsoft .NET 2.0 SP1
- Hardware minimal:
- CPU: 1 GHz
- RAM: 512 MB
- Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 Pixels
- Hardware recommended:
- CPU: 2 GHz
- RAM: 1024 MB
- Screen resolution: 1280 x 1024 Pixels
The online update feature requires an internet connection.
2. Installation notes
Installation on a single workstation:
The minimum requirement for SELECT 6 to run is Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1. If the installer does not find a compatible .NET Framwork version, it will offer to download and install a suitable version (suitable for your operating system and language) from the Microsoft Servers.
In case the automatic download does not work, you will have to download and install a suitable version of the .NET Framework from Microsoft.
Remark for Windows 8:
.NET Framework 2.0 can be activated via the CPlApplet "Programs and Features".
Administrator rights are required to install .NET Framework.
Should no installation of .NET Framework be required, SELECT 6 can be installed with a "Power user" account.
The installation with Power user rights differs from administrator user rights in that SELECT 6 will only be installed for the active user account instead of "All users".
An installation with Power user rights is however only possible if SELECT 6 was not previously installed for "All users".
Updates for "All users" installations can only be performed by an Administrator. A Power user installation can only be updated by the user who performed the initial installation.
Network Installation:
SELECT 6 can be installed on a network share.
All users with reading permission can run the software from the shared path. SELECT 6 supports mapped drives as well as UNC-paths. The client PCs must however have at least .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 installed.
It is recommended to perform the installation on a server using an Administrator account.
Updates can only be performed from the computer on which the initial installation was performed.
